Teens Who Escaped From Miami Substance Abuse Center Captured in Hialeah

18-year-old woman also arrested for harboring juveniles, police say

Two teens who escaped from the Miami Youth Academy substance abuse center on Sunday were captured in Hialeah Friday.

Greggory Ruiz, 16, and Jonathan Jacobo, 15, were taken into custody at Bucky Dent Park in the area of West 24th Avenue and 56th Street.

Miami-Dade Police officials said Hialeah Police assisted in the capture.

Also arrested was 18-year-old Tatiana Gonzalez, who police say harbored the juveniles.

Ruiz, Jacobo and 16-year-old Jason Posey escaped from the center Sunday evening through a classroom window, officials said. Posey was caught soon after the escape.

Miami-Dade Police said the teens were "known to be violent" and told the public not to confront them.

The state-owned Miami Youth Academy is located at 10855 Southwest 84th Street and houses up to 28 male teens aged 14 to 18 who have been assessed to need substance abuse services.
