‘They Took Everything': Trailer With Construction Equipment Stolen

A stolen trailer that was once filled with construction tools was found – but it was found empty.

“They took everything,” said Juan Lopez.

Cameras were rolling as U-Haul truck backed into a driveway Sunday morning and then took off with the large trailer hitched to it.

Lopez said all of his tools, worth thousands of dollars, were inside that trailer.

“It was all my life inside that trailer. They stole my life, you know,” said Lopez. “We work, we live with it. We woke up the next day without nothing.”

Since Lopez was doing construction work on his client’s home in Northwest Miami-Dade, he chose to leave the trailer parked there. He said the front gate and trailer were locked when the thief arrived around 4:30 a.m. Sunday.

“He came like he was the owner of the house. He came, opened the gate, cut all of the locks we had on the trailer and just grabbed it,” said Lopez.

The time stamp on the video shows the person in the U-Haul took more than 10 minutes to steal Lopez’s equipment.

Now, the victim hopes the photos and video will help police find the individual threatening his livelihood.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
