Thief Caught Red Handed During Hollywood Robbery: Police

The detectives became suspicious when they saw Lopez enter the store with his head covered and socks on his hands, police said

A bicycle riding thief who tried to rob a Hollywood CVS was caught in the act by detectives who saw him entering the store with his head and hands covered, police said.

Detectives were near the store at 901 North Federal Highway Tuesday night when they spotted the suspect, 29-year-old Paul Lopez, arrive on a bicycle, Hollywood Police officials said.

The detectives became suspicious when they saw Lopez enter the store with his head covered and socks on his hands, police said. So the detectives went into the store and watched as Lopez approached the cashier, pulled a stocking cap to cover his face and appeared to threaten the cashier, officials said.

Lopez implied he had a weapon and told the cashier to “give me everything you got and don’t press any buttons," officials said.

Detectives were able to quickly take Lopez into custody. He was charged with robbery with a weapon and resisting an officer.

Lopez was being held on $25,000 bond Wednesday, jail records showed. Attorney information wasn't available.
