Police are looking for a thief who robbed a man at the University of Miami Metrorail station in Coral Gables last week.

The robbery happened Jan. 14 when the suspect rushed the victim holding two rocks in his hands, Coral Gables Police said Monday.

The suspect grabbed the victim's Kindle and iPhone and a struggle ensued.

"After this couple second tug-of-war he decided to let go of the property because he was in fear that he might be injured by the subject," Coral Gables Police spokeswoman Kelly Denham said.

The suspect was able to flee up the stairs to the Metrorail and back down to the street. The iPhone and Kindle were later found.

Police described the suspect as a black male, 20-30 years old, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-11, 150-170 pounds. He was wearing a black skully, white shirt and black pants at the time of the robbery, police said.

Denham said people should be aware of their surroundings in public places like train stations.

"The victim did nothing wrong in this case, it was just very quick and very determined by the subject," she said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
