Thieves Rob Miami Store at Gunpoint

Simon's Sportswear at 698 Northeast 167th Street robbed at gunpoint

Authorities are looking for three armed men who ripped off a Miami clothing shop at gunpoint in a frightening robbery that was caught on video.

The robbery happened around 2 p.m. Saturday at Simon's Sportswear at 698 Northeast 167th Street when the three men barged in and shoved guns in the faces of employees.

"He had a gun in my face the whole time and he said 'put the money in the bag, put the money in the bag' and the other suspect without the mask was just grabbing things and saying 'we don't want to hurt anybody,'" said Dana Cannon, the store's manager.

Cannon said the thieves took more than $3,000 worth of merchandise and over $1,000 in cash from the register.

In addition to the surveillance cameras, the store employs a security guard, but nothing was stopping the robbers, Cannon said.

"But I do have confidence that they will get caught just because we do have security and an alarm system and I have 16 cameras in the store," she said. "So even though they felt like with masks that they were going to get away, but all the video, we saw you coming in to the store."

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
