Thousands Line Up to Collect CAMACOL Holiday Food Baskets in Little Havana

What to Know

  • Nearly 3,000 people who waited in line several weeks ago to claim one of those tickets will return to collect their reward Wednesday.
  • The baskets, designed to help those needy families enjoy a holiday meal, are filled with items donated by supermarkets and other businesses.

In what has become an annual event for some South Florida residents, the annual CAMACOL Holiday Food Basket handout takes place Wednesday for those holding what some call the “golden ticket”.

Nearly 3,000 people who waited in line several weeks ago to claim one of those tickets from the largest Latin chamber of commerce organization in the area will return to the group's Little Havana headquarters off Flagler Street to claim the baskets.

The baskets, designed to help those needy families enjoy a holiday meal, are filled with items donated by supermarkets and other businesses that can feed a family of 10 people.

Baskets are only available to those who present one of the tickets passed out at the earlier date.
