Three Cargo Planes Heading From Miami to PR With 300,000 Pounds of Aid

Three cargo planes are being loaded with more than 300,000 pounds of supplies that hopefully will alleviate pressure for those suffering in Puerto Rico.

Though the planes are heading to the island from Miami International Airport, the supplies being stocked into the aircraft have been sent from throughout the United States.

Angelique Sina, executive director of Friends of Puerto Rico, said her organization works to bring together those affected by the devastating Hurricane Maria and those who want to help.

"What's happening in Puerto Rico is heartbreaking," Sina said. "We've had thousands of supporters – people who have helped with these efforts."

The aid was collected by different organizations, such as churches and companies. Generous people have also helped, such as those who helped finance the cargo planes leaving from Miami to Puerto Rico Thursday morning.
