Three Men Arrested For Allegedly Using Credit Card Skimmers at Aventura Gas Station

Three men are behind bars after police in Aventura caught them allegedly trying to use a credit card skimming device on a gas station pump.

Officers were doing surveillance at the Marathon gas station located at 21005 Biscayne Boulevard when they noticed a black SUV pull up to a pump. After seeing one of the men pulling on the pump with an orange drill, the officers approached the men.

Two men, 33-year-old Yankiel Blanco and 21-year-old Alexey Abreu-Chapotin, were detained by police. A third man, 26-year-old Yuliesky Cespedes-Perez, was inside the car and also detained. Police found an additional number of scanning devices on the floor of the vehicle.

Police determined all three were working together to attach a scanner and arrested them, while removing the device they had attached to the pump. Each was charged with multiple counts, including unlawful use of a scanning device and burglary of an unoccupied structure.
