Three Miami-Dade Firefighters Hospitalized After Early Morning Crash on Turnpike

What to Know

  • All three of the rescue crew members were taken to Jackson Hospital South, where they are listed in stable condition.

Three Miami-Dade firefighters were taken to the hospital after their rescue truck crashed during the early morning hours Thursday.

The crash took place just before 4:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike near Quail Roost Drive.

All three of the rescue crew members were taken to Jackson Hospital South, where two were eventually released and one remains listed in stable condition.

Officials said the truck was the only vehicle involved and it may have hit the median due to the wet conditions on the road.

The crew had just finished assisting another driver who had spun out in the same area, officials said.
