Tim Tebow To Be Honored as a “Great Floridian” by Gov. Rick Scott

The former Gator and Heisman Trophy winner will be presented with the award Friday in Ponte Vedra Beach

Former Florida Gator Tim Tebow will receive the “Great Floridian” award Friday, Gov. Rick Scott’s office announced Wednesday.

The governor will present the NFL quarterback and former Heisman Trophy winner with the honor Friday at 3 p.m. at the Clubhouse at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach.

The designation recognizes “the outstanding achievements of men and women who have made significant contributions to the progress and welfare of Florida.”

Tim Tebow Not Ruling Out Political Future

Only 66 people have received the “Great Floridian” award since 1981, including former governors, writers, civil rights activists, athletes and educators, the governor’s office said.

Tebow helped the Gators win two national championships during his time on the team.
