A 2-year-old boy died after he was found unresponsive in a canal Thursday in Pompano Beach, officials said.
The boy's father told deputies he believed the child fell into the canal behind the house, located in the 300 block of SE 6th Avenue, the Broward Sheriff's Office said Monday in a news release.
While searching the canal, a kayaker found the boy, unresponsive, according to BSO. Deputies performed CPR until he was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The child was pronounced dead at Broward Health Medical Center Friday morning.
So far no criminal charges have been filed.
