Traffic Stop Turns Up Dozens of Child Porn Images on Man's Phone: Hialeah PD

David Delgado, 34, was arrested Thursday on 30 counts of possession of sexual performance by a child, according to a police report

A Hialeah man is facing charges after police say a routine traffic stop turned up dozens of child pornography images and videos on his cell phone.

David Delgado, 34, was arrested Thursday on 30 counts of possession of sexual performance by a child, according to a police report.

According to the report, Delgado was stopped by an officer in July and the officer was checking to see if the cellphone had been stolen. When the officer pressed the on button, the phone automatically displayed a gallery and the officer saw several nude photos depicting what appeared to be child pornography, the report said.

The phone was impounded and a forensic examination determined there were about 800 child sexual abuse images and videos, the report said. At least 30 of the images met the criteria for child pornography, the report said.

Delgado was booked into jail, where he was being held on $225,000 bond Friday, records showed. Attorney information wasn't available.

In court Friday, family members asked for a lower bond from a Miami-Dade judge.

"This is the most graphic arrest affidavit that depicts things happening to children that you could only imagine in your nightmare and I am not lowering the bond," Judge Mindy Glazer said. Every time this video is played a child is victimized again, over and over, and he was in possession of it and he is presumed not guilty, he will have a trial if he is competent to stand trial."
