No Injuries After Train Traveling From MIA Derails

Around 30 passengers had to evacuate a Metrorail train after it derailed from the tracks as it left from Miami International Airport Friday evening.

The train partially derailed after 6 p.m. while transitioning on the tracks near Northwest 41st Street and 23rd Avenue at a low speed rate, said Miami-Dade Transit spokesperson Karla Damian.

It was heading southbound from the MIA station to the Earlington Heights station.

Everyone was evacuated and there are no reported injuries, Damian said.

"Out of nowhere, we see police coming in and telling everyone to get out, evacuate the train, evacuate the train," said Metrorail driver Milca Jeune.

Damian added another train can ride on the tracks and Metrorail riders will be bused from either side of Earlington Heights Station (Martin Luther Plaza Station and Culmer Station) and will also bus riders from Earlington Heights to MIA and vice versa.
