Trio Accused of Attempted Carjackings in Hialeah: Police

A pair accused of attempted carjacking and leading police on a high speed chase, made their first court appearance Tuesday.

Nicholas Rosado, 19, was ordered to be held on $10,000 bond and Rebecca Utria, 21, faces a $25,000 bond.

Police said Rosado and Utria, along with an underage suspect, attempted but failed to carjack two people on Monday at the same Hialeah gas station.

The incident was caught on surveillance video around 10:20 p.m. at the Tom Thumb located at 77 West Okeechobee Road.

Detectives said the first victim was in her vehicle after pumping gas when the trio, brandishing firearms and wearing ski masks, ran up to her car. They began hitting the victim's car and demanded her vehicle. The woman locked the doors and drove sped away.

The second victim was able to fight off the suspects, according to detectives.

The trio eventually fled the gas station, but then led police on a pursuit that came to a crashing end in the 500 block of East 10th Avenue. All three suspects were taken into custody without incident.

The third suspect also remains in jail. It's unclear whether the suspects have hired attorneys.
