Two Men, Dog Rescued From Burning Boat in Florida Keys

Two men and a dog were rescued by a good Samaritan after the boat they were on went up in flames Thursday night in the Florida Keys.

The incident happened about eight nautical miles southwest of Marquesas Key, according to a Coast Guard report.

The men on board the boat said the fire ignited in the engine room and quickly spread before the vessel sank. The men and dog were able to get into a dinghy and were recovered by the good Samaritan, the Coast Guard said.

Crewmembers of the Coast Guard Cutter Nantucket responded and transported the men and dog to emergency medical services in Key West to get checked out. There were no reported injuries.
