Two men were arrested and face charges after a dramatic high-speed police pursuit up Interstate-95 in Miami-Dade and then a brief foot chase, police said.

Darryl Brown Jr. 21, faces one count of armed occupied burglary with an assault therein, one count of armed robbery with a firearm and one count of possession of firearm during the commission of a felony. Josue Jean, 19, faces one count of armed robbery with a firearm. It wasn't immediately known if they had attorneys.

The chase began shortly before 7 a.m. Wednesday near the Starbucks at 6815 Biscayne Boulevard in Miami.

Police say Brown entered the Starbucks with a firearm and ski mask and confronted employees at the counter, telling them to place all the money in a plastic bag. When both employees didn't comply at first, Brown showed them his firearm from his waistband, and he demanded money again, authorities aid.

An employee removed the cash, which totaled either $700 or $800 and put it on the counter, authorities said.  Brown took the money and put it in his waistband, and as he was placing the money in his waistband, he pulled out his firearm and dropped it on the ground, police said.

He ran to a waiting Toyota Camry that was parked in the parking lot occupied by Jean, authorities said.

An off-duty firefighter was at the coffee shop and saw Brown wearing a ski mask and holding a gun. He called 911 and followed the car giving police it's location, according to authorities.

Police began following the two armed robbery suspects who were in a white Toyota sedan. The pursuit headed northbound on I-95 with officers following the car, which was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic.

The driver of the car lost control and crashed into a guardrail on the ramp to the Florida Turnpike at the Golden Glades toll plaza.

Jean was apprehended inside the vehicle, while Brown suspect jumped a fence and ran into a residential neighborhood in Miami Gardens.

Brown, who appeared to be carrying a wad of cash, ran up to a woman who was getting into her car.

At one point, he approached another person who was leaving their house, but the person was able to run back inside.

One homeowner's surveillance camera captured the suspect walking through their front lawn.

The suspect was walking down the street when an officer approached and took him into custody at gunpoint.
