Shooting in Miami Gardens Leaves Two Critically Injured

Two people are in critical condition after being shot Sunday in Miami Gardens, police said. 

The Miami Gardens Police Department said the two victims were struck at about 12:50 p.m. in the area of NW 27th Avenue/NW 17600 block.

"After police arrived, two individuals were located with gunshot wound(s) and transported to a local hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time," MGPD said in a statement.

The family identified the victims to NBC 6 as 20-year-old Deondre McDuffy and 35-year-old Samuel Streeter. Family members said the victims were a father and stepson. Police have not yet confirmed this information.

Neighbors said they heard bullets. Nine gunshots were heard as children played outside. 

Family members said the men know the shooter and alleges the shooter lives in the neighborhood where the incident happened. Police officials have not yet confirmed that information.

Miami Gardens police continues to investigate.
