An Uber driver in South Florida found himself behind bars after police say he allegedly threatened a female passenger with a knife and stole thousands of dollars from her earlier this month.

Officers arrested 31-year-old Yoandi Borroto on Monday and charged him with one county or robbery with a deadly weapon. He is being held on no bond.

According to an arrest report, Borroto picked up the victim in Miami Beach on the morning of February 4th, where she asked to be taken to an area in Northwest Miami-Dade. After she exited the vehicle, the victim said Borroto got out of the car as well.

Holding a knife, Borroto allegedly demanded money from the victim, struggling with her until he took $2,300 out of her purse. The victim was able to take a photo of Borroto with her phone before he grabbed it from her before leaving the scene.

The victim identified Borroto out of a police photo stack and he was arrested and charged.
