UM Drops Regular Season Finale to Pittsburgh

The Hurricanes finished the regular season with a 35-23 loss to the Pittsburrgh Panthers

The regular season ended on a down note for the Miami Hurricanes in their 35-23 loss to the Pittsburgh Panthers.

The loss was the third straight for the Hurricanes and it gave the school a 6-6 record for the season. UM ended up 3-5 in the ACC while Pittsburgh had a 4-4 record in the conference. The Panthers became bowl eligible with their win in this one.

The 2014 regular season ended in a streaky way for the Hurricanes. Before losing its last three games, Miami won three in a row. The last win came on November 1st against North Carolina and preceded a near upset over Florida State.

Brad Kaaya threw for 296 yards in Saturday's loss while going 22 for 45 on his pass attempts. The freshman quarterback threw two touchdown passes to give him 25 on the season. Kaaya threw 11 interceptions during the schedule but none in the finale.

Duke Johnson who enjoyed a spectacular season had a receiving touchdown in this game. Johnson also rushed for 89 yards on 15 carries. For the regular season, Johnson ended up with 10 TDs on the ground and an additional three in the air.

The other touchdown pass on the day was brought in by Phillip Dorsett to give him nine on the year. Dorsett caught five passes for 103 yards which led the UM receiving core on Saturday. Clive Walford had 49 yards receiving for the second highest total on the team.

Neither team turned the ball over and the time of possession was a close battle with Pittsburgh maintaining the ball for about three minutes longer than Miami.
