It's been five years since a University of Miami football player was gunned down in broad daylight outside his home.
Still, no one has been charged with Bryan Pata's murder, but his family isn't giving up hope.
Miami-Dade Police said Pata's murder is not a cold-case and detectives are still getting several leads. On Monday, the Pata family told NBC Miami they believe Bryan's killer will be caught.
Five years later, flowers and candles sit outside the Miami apartment complex where 22-year-old Bryan Pata was gunned down.
"There's five candles you see there. That means five long years," Bryan's mother Jeanette Pata said. "We need answers."
The University of Miami football player was shot in the head outside his Kendall apartment home after football practice Nov. 7, 2006.
That is the most frustrating part for the Pata family. After all these years, they still don't know who took their loved one.

"It's not easy for someone to lose your son like that and have no justice. We need justice for Byran," Pata said. 'People know. They're hiding something."
"Yes, time does heal to a certain degree, but at the same time it brings you back to square one when there are no answers," Bryan's brother Edwin Pata said.
Now a lot of Bryan's family lives in West Palm Beach, but every year on this day they return to the scene of the crime to remember him.
