Crews responded to reports of a sinkhole in a parking lot in Aventura Monday afternoon following a water main break.
It happened at 2999 Northeast 199th Street near Northeast 29th Place.
Aerial footage showed a vehicle stuck in the mud, being removed by a tow truck. Large portions of the parking lot appeared to be flooded.
City officials said a water main break caused the flooding.
Crews with the Miami-Dade County Water & Sewer Department were on the scene repairing the break. They said a contractor accidentally hit a 16-inch water main that resulted in the closing of westbound traffic along Northeast 191st Street between Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast 190th Street.
Repairs were expected to be completed sometime Tuesday morning. Commuters are encouraged to avoid the area until the repairs are completed.
