Video of Student Stabbing in Lauderhill Released as Mother Speaks

The mother of a high school boy who was stabbed by a female classmate is speaking out as video of the bloody confrontation was released Thursday.

The 16-year-old boy remained hospitalized Thursday in stable condition, a day after he was stabbed in the back twice during a fight in Lauderhill.

"Right now he's stable, thank God he's still alive, he could've died after what she did," said the boy's mother, who didn't want to be identified.

The 16-year-old girl accused of stabbing him appeared in court Thursday. She's charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

The incident happened after the students from Piper High School got off a school bus in the 5800 block of Northwest 19th Street around 3:20 p.m., Lauderhill Police officials said.

"You gotta think about what you're doing when you're taking knives to school," the boy's mother said. "She took that knife to school, when she got off the bus that's when she used that knife."

In one still frame in the video, obtained Thursday by NBC 6, the knife is seen sticking out of the teen's back.

"Whatever she did her intention was to kill my son but thank God he's still alive," his mother said.

The mother said the only reason her son was involved in the fight in the first place was because he was sticking up for a friend.

"She brought the people for the fight and it was like ten people," the mother said. "If he didn't fight the person one on one, they were gonna jump my son."

The girl will remain in detention until Sunday night then she'll be placed on house arrest. She'll also be allowed to go back to school.

It's unknown when the victim will be released from the hospital.
