Violent Motorcycle Crash Kills Federal Officer

A violent motorcycle accident killed a Miami International Airport federal officer Saturday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP said that U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer Marc Izquierdo of Hialeah was traveling northbound on the Palmetto Expressway at a high rate of speed when he lost control on the ramp to northbound I-75.

Izquierdo, 53, crashed into a guardrail and was thrown from the motorcycle. Both the driver and motorcycle landed 500 feet from the initial collision site.

FHP said Izquierdo suffered severe trauma from the impact. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
