Walt Disney World’s parkwide ban on smoking – as well as new rules involving strollers – take effect Wednesday, May 1.
The smoking ban applies to Walt Disney World, all Disneyland theme parks, water parks, the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and Downtown Disney District in California. The news, first reported in March, pertains to both cigarettes and vaping pens, the company said.
There will be designated smoking areas located outside the entrances to the parks and in Disney Springs, according to the Disney Parks blog. The blog post also notes there will be smoking areas for guests who have room or dining reservations at Disney Resort hotels.
Guests will be charged a $250 to $500 fee if found smoking in guests rooms, balconies or inside patios at Disney Resort hotels.
Additionally, Disney is cracking down on stroller size to alleviate congestion. Starting May 1, strollers can be no larger than 31 inches (79 centimeters) wide and 52 inches (132 centimeters) long, according to the blog post. The park also remind visitors that wagons are not allowed park premises.
