Officials have confirmed that water service has been turned back on to the Doral area affected by a massive main break earlier this week.

Miami-Dade County said it was restored shortly before 2 a.m. to all the areas along Northwest 41st Street, where the break took place just east of Florida’s Turnpike on Monday afternoon.

A boil water notice remains in effect from NW 136th Place to 107th Avenue and 41st Street to 34th Street for at least the next two days – but officials have said that could be extended.

Northwest 41st Street will remain closed at least through Saturday as workers fix the hole that formed after the break.

The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) said a contractor working in the Doral area struck a 24-inch water pipe. WASD crews are making repairs on-site.

Classes at Miami-Dade College’s west campus near the break will resume on Thursday while exit ramps from the Turnpike in both directions at 41st Street remain closed.
