ā€˜We Want Justice': Family Demands Answers After Man Killed in Hit-and-Run

Miami-Dade Police say 62-year-old Arturo Martin was struck and killed by the semi-tractor-trailer in the area of Northwest 36th Street and Northwest 72nd Avenue

The family of a man who was killed after getting hit by a tractor-trailer is seeking justice as police continue to investigate the reported hit-and-run.

Miami-Dade Police say 62-year-old Arturo Martin was struck and killed by the semi-tractor-trailer in the area of Northwest 36th Street and Northwest 72nd Avenue shortly before 11 a.m. on June 24.

The driver of the tractor-trailer fled "without rendering aid or providing information," police said.

"Everyone is devastated," Arturo Martin Jr. told NBC 6 in an exclusive interview Tuesday. "My dad was a grandfather, an uncle -- My relatives are devastated, they're broken."

Family members said Martin was on a moped and delivering for Uber Eats when he was struck.

"We want justice," Arturo Martin Jr. said. "It's been 22 days and the person that did this is not arrested."

However, the attorney for the Martin family told NBC 6 investigators interviewed the driver and said they believed he did not know he hit anyone. The attorney said investigators are unsure if they will be pressing charges.

NBC 6 has contacted Miami-Dade police about whether investigators are changing the way they are looking at the case.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
