Weakening Danny Degenerates into Remnant Low

Forecasters say the storm Danny has degenerated into a remnant low.

The National Hurricane Center made the announcement Monday. It says no watches or warnings were in effect.

The storm was about 45 miles west-southwest of Guadeloupe. It had maximum sustained winds of 30 mph and was moving west at about 12 mph.

Remnants from the storm, that was a Category 3 hurricane over the weekend, are expected to bring 2-4 inches of rain over the Leewrd Islands, the U.S. and British Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic through Tuesday night.

The hurricane center says it won't issue anymore advisories on the storm.

Meanwhile, a low pressure system that was about 1,250 miles east of the southern Lesser Antilles was better organized and was expected to become a tropical depression later Monday, forecasters said.

The system was moving west at around 20 mph Monday.
