Miami

Week Two Preview: Dolphins at Jaguars

The Dolphins will try to start the season 2-0 when they take on Jacksonville on Sunday

The Miami Dolphins will take on the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday as they look to improve to 2-0 to begin the year.

In the first week of the season, Miami was not at its best but did enough to come from behind and win. The game was against a Washington team that the Dolphins were expected to beat. Once again, Miami enters this game as the favorite to win. Jacksonville lost its first game of the season and sits at 0-1.

For the Dolphins to win, they will need to see a stronger performance from the defense. For much of the first half last week, Miami's defense was unable to stop Washington from moving the ball. The defense was not helped by a lackluster showing on the offensive end by Miami. Due to multiple three-and-outs, Washington dominated time of possession and Miami's defense was clearly exhausted early on.

When Miami headed into Jacksonville last October, the Dolphins won by two touchdowns. Part of the reason for the win was poor play by Jaguars' quarterback Blake Bortles. In this one, Bortles will be behind center again. With an improved Miami's defense, it could be a long day for Bortles.

Ndamukong Suh admittedly was not stellar in his first official action as a Dolphin. The high ticket free-agent was mostly not involved in the action, but that should change in this second game. If Suh has a stronger showing, the rest of the defense should follow along well. Disrupting Bortles' rhythm could pay dividends quickly for Miami as it did last year.

Ryan Tannehill had a solid second half last week, but had difficulty converting first downs early on. Miami would like to see its quarterback get off to a better start this time around. If Tannehill can get into a groove fast, the running game should improve as well. Lamar Miller was not much of a factor in the first week of the season as he tallied only 53 yards.

Dion Sims will miss this week's action ha he continues to recover from a concussion that he suffered in last week's game. Sims hit the ground hard on a diving attempt and was diagnosed with a concussion quickly. Sims will not be able to return to play until he goes through the league's concussion protocol

Sunday's game will begin at 4:05 p.m.
