Weekend Happenings: Crabs, Crossfit and Contortionists

Whether you’re looking to get a workout in, or sample some of the best seafood South Florida has to offer, there’s plenty to do this weekend. Here’s a preview of some of what’s going on around town:

Wodapalooza Fitness Festival – Downtown Miami
The biggest names in Crossfit will take over Bayfront Park this weekend for one of the world’s biggest Crossfit competitions. Join hundreds of athletes as they battle it out for the title of best athlete. There will also be enlightening fitness seminars, interactive entertainment, live DJ’s, a vendor metropolis, which features an array of brands and much more. The event begins Thursday and runs through Sunday. Tickets start at $45 and can be purchased here.

Stone Crab and Seafood Festival – Ft. Lauderdale

If you’re a lover of seafood, this is where you’ll want to be this weekend. The free celebration will highlight some of Ft. Lauderdale’s favorite seafood restaurants as they serve up fresh stone crab claws and a variety of seafood dishes starting at just $5. More information can be found here.

Cirque du Soleil: Volta – Miami Gardens

Enjoy action sports, acrobatics, live music and spectacular visual effects, all while enjoying an interesting storyline in a way that only Cirque du Soleil can do. The show is playing now through February 4th under the big top next to Hard Rock Stadium. Tickets start at $40 and can be purchased here.

Chinese Lantern Festival – Lauderhill

Time is running out to experience a wonderful evening of authentic and larger-than-life hand crafted lanterns, live entertainment and food. Chinese folk artists will show off their craft, while you enjoy an immersive multicultural experience with your loved ones. The event runs through January 15th.
