Weekend Roundup: Memorial Day Weekend Events

Memorial Day Weekend is here, which means thousands of people will be in South Florida to enjoy the holiday weekend.

Great American Beach Party

The Great American Beach Party is taking place on Saturday from 10 a.m. through 8 p.m. in Fort Lauderdale. The beach bash will stretch along State Road A1A between Las Olas Boulevard North to Castillo Street. Admission is free. Additional information can be found here

Hyundai Air and Sea Show

Rapper Flo Rida is headlining this weekend’s Hyundai Air and Sea Show in Miami Beach. This year’s show will include a display by the Blue Angels. The military-themed bash will also feature a U.S. Army Golden Knights parachute jump and stealth bombers. The event takes place Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. More information on the event can be found here

Free Family Fest Show

Stop by the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Free Family Fest show taking place on Saturday, featuring Afrika, the first professional company dedicated to the tradition of stepping. Audiences can expect a highly-interactive 50-minute performance for people of all ages that highlights the history, culture and physicality of stepping. The show is very interactive, which means it’s a great show for the whole family to enjoy. Click here for additional information. 

Memorial Day Celebration at Deering Estate

The Deering Estate will host a special celebration honoring and remembering those who gave their lives for our freedom. There will be a military parade inside the venue, a scavenger hunt, and live bands, along with a DJ, giant board games, food vendors and much more. Free admission is available for Village of Palmetto Bay residents, veterans and up to five family members, active duty military personnel and up to five family members, and Deering Estate Foundation members. Otherwise, admission is $7 for guests ages 4 and older. More information can be found here

Free Admission at Jungle Island for Active Military, Veterans and First Responders

Jungle Island is inviting all veterans, active military, police and fire personnel to enjoy free park admission over Memorial Day weekend from May 25-27, as well as a 50% discount for up to four accompanying family members. Click here for more information.
