Weston Child Sets Goal of Running 5K Daily For Six Months

What to Know

  • Adrian Gandara’s legs carried him to over 90 victories in his age group.
  • But he didn’t stop there as this young man decided to put his brain, and size four and a half shoes to a new test.
  • So far, Adrian has woke up at 7:00 in the morning, stretched and ran a 5K every morning since December 9th.

Say hello to Adrian Gandara – a 10-year-old from Weston who is literally always on the run. Not just any run – we’re talking 5K events.

“When I first started my first 5K, I saw that I was able to when my age group and it felt good that I won and I did a second race and I won again,” said the sixth grade student

Again and again, Adrian’s legs carried him to over 90 victories in his age group. But he didn’t stop there as this young man decided to put his brain, and size four and a half shoes to a new test – running a 5K every morning for the next six months.

“I told my parents I’m going to do six months, and I told a bunch of people and they were shocked,” he said.

“I thought he was crazy. I told him it was a little much,” said his father, Joel. “Why don’t you make a goal of like a month, maybe two months, but six months that’s crazy and so far I’ve been wrong.”

So far, Adrian has woke up at 7:00 in the morning, stretched and ran a 5K every morning since December 9th, but the journey to his goal isn’t easy.

“You have days you wake up and you’re ready to go and Thursdays you’re tired, but the good thing about Adrian is that he doesn’t give up,” said his mother, Jessica.

This young athlete is using his goal to challenge other people to get fit. That’s why Adrian also started a YouTube page to spread the running gospel about fitness, nutrition, and how to stay healthy and fit.

“I just want to show the rest of the world how to stay fit, and I don’t want anybody else to be out of shape,” he said. “I want everybody to be fit, and healthy.”
