NBC Universal, Inc.

Police worked Friday morning to rescue a wheelchair-bound elderly woman who was trapped in a car following a crash.

Chopper 6 was over the scene near Northwest 6th Street and 3rd Court, where two cars were involved in the crash and one was on its side.

Detectives say the crash took place just before 7:30 a.m. when a white Nissan Rouge crashed with a Ford Transport van, causing the van to overturn with the elderly woman on board.

Fire rescue crews were able to extract the woman and transported both her and the driver to Ryder Trauma Center, where both are in stable condition. The driver of the SUV was not hurt and remained on the scene.

Detectives have not released the identity of anyone involved as the investigation continues.
