Wild Hialeah Horses Rounded Up

The 20 wild horses found roaming in Hialeah have all been rounded up thanks to a nearby farmer.

Pedro Hernandez herded up the 10 remaining horses yesterday after 20 were found roaming in the area of NW 97th Avenue and 154th Street in Hialeah, according to the South Florida SPCA.

The owners of the ten horses have come forward to claim the ten horses, which will be handed over to the owners by Hernandez.

The SPCA had spent the weekend rounding up horses over fears that they might starve to death or possibly die as they get closer to high-traffic roads. Six of them were rounded up on Friday and another five were herded up on Saturday.

One of the horses found Friday was a pregnant pony with a broken leg. The horses found Friday and Saturday were brought to the SPCA's rescue ranch. In a written statement, the organization said they're "doing well and acclimating to their new surroundings."

They don't know the condition of the horse found by Hernandez.

The non-profit said it can't care for all of the 50 or so horses in their possession without the public's help. They're asking for donations or people to adopt the horses.
