Woman Arrested in Massive Marijuana Grow House Bust

A 62-year-old Miami woman is facing marijuana trafficking charges after police reportedly busted a massive pot grow house early Friday.

Miriam Baydes is also facing a grand theft charge following her arrest at a home in the 14600 block of Southwest 63rd Terrace.

Baydes was booked into Miami-Dade Jail just after 4 a.m. and was being held without bond, records showed.

About $300,000 worth of marijuana was reportedly found in the home. Footage showed Miami-Dade Police officers taking several garbage bags full of marijuana out of the house early Friday.

"It’s a shock because this is a real quiet neighborhood," neighbor Javier Ortega said.

Some neighbors said Baydes seemed to keep a low profile but was seen out and about.

β€œI saw a lady, a very nice lady, every afternoon walking her little schnauzer, every afternoon," Gilda Sacasas said.

The takedown of the grow operation scared some neighbors.

"When I came in the afternoon, the whole block was full of police cars and the police with guns and all that and told us to get inside the house," Sacasas said.

Baydes is facing charges of trafficking marijuana, owning a home for the purpose of trafficking, and grand theft. Baydes will stay in jail until her arraignment next month.
