18-Year-Old Arrested in Murder of Security Guard at Miami Gardens Park

An 18-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the murder of a security guard whose body was found last year in the playground of a Miami Gardens park, police said.

Dejia Kemp was charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery and was transported to jail Tuesday, according to Miami Gardens police.

A jogger found the body of 50-year-old Kevin L. Willis the morning of Nov. 2, 2018, at Scott Park on NW 15th Court. He had an apparent gunshot wound to the head and was still wearing a badge and security uniform.

He had left his home that morning at midnight, police said. Police could not find his vehicle, a 2007 Chrysler 300 with a Florida tag KEAD17.
