Nothing gets between a hungry woman and her French fries. Apparently, not even being pulled over by a cop.
On Monday afternoon, Officer Courtney Vassell noticed a car driving down University Drive with non-working brake lights, according to a police report. So Vassell put on her lights and attempted to pull over the driver.
This is the point where most of us would curse, hope the cop is trying to get around us to catch someone else, and then begrudgingly pull over after realizing she isn’t.
Instead, 64-year-old Roberta Spen decided she needed McDonald’s.

Vassell reportedly pulled up next to Spen’s vehicle in the drive-thru and told Spen she was conducting a traffic stop and to pull into the parking lot. Instead, Spen ordered her food and took off.
Finally, Spen pulled over but refused to roll down her window and provide Vassell with her information, the report stated, even after being told she would be arrested if she didn’t. Instead, Spen sped off again, leading Vassell on a chase from Atlantic Boulevard to University Drive, where, at a red light, she was boxed in by several other patrol cars.
In one last attempt to break loose, Spen reportedly threw her vehicle in reverse, between two cop cars, ending up at a Mobil station, where she was once again boxed in. Again, Spen refused to open her window, at which point officers broke her window and physically removed Spen from the vehicle.
Spen has been charged with fleeing and eluding police, resisting without violence and defective equipment. At which point her food was most likely cold.
