Six suspected car burglars including a woman who had her child with her were arrested in Pompano Beach thanks to an observant witness who called authorities, officials said.
Broward Sheriff's Officials said the suspects burglarized two cars in the 2100 block of N. Riverside Drive around 1:40 a.m. Tuesday. The group fled in a 2016 Chevy Malibu when one of the car's alarms went off.
A short time later, a witness who saw suspicious activity in the 2300 block of Southeast 11th Street called authorities who responded and found the Malibu and the suspects, officials said.
Detectives later learned that the suspects were caught on surveillance video entering a 2012 Jeep Cherokee a block away on Southeast 11th Street, officials said.
The suspects arrested were Christopher Aubourg, 19; Merith Cordero, 19; Latasha Dupree, 25; Elijah Godson, 18; Unique Quince, 18; and a 17-year-old boy. They face charges of burglary conveyance and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
BSO's Child Protective Investigations Section responded to the scene for the welfare and placement of the young child.
