Woman Dragged By Purse Snatcher at NW Miami-Dade Gas Station

A woman was dragged several feet as thieves attempted to steal her purse while she pumped gas in Northwest Miami-Dade, newly released surveillance video showed.

The attempted robbery happened Monday at the Race Way Gas Station on 198th Street and 57th Avenue.

Yenia Borges, 35, was filling her tank when a Silver Infiniti FX35 pulled up next to hers. A male crept out, opened the driver’s side of the victim’s car and yanked her purse. Once the woman noticed what was happening, she bolted toward the suspects’ car and fought with the male as he jumped back in the getaway vehicle, video shows.

The two struggled over the bag as the driver accelerated, dragging Borges several feet. The suspects’ car then hit another vehicle, before speeding away. Borges managed to her get purse back, but the bad guys got away with her wallet.

In Spanish, Borges said she went all "Cuban" on the suspects, yelling words that are not appropriate for television. She added that thanks to her screams, people ran out and tried to help her catch the bad guys.
