Woman Pulled from Fire at Miramar House

Miramar Fire investigators and Miramar Police remained on the scene of what rescuers called a suspicious house fire that sent one woman to the hospital Friday.

The fire broke out at the home in the 6600 block of Southwest 20th Street. Firefighters said they found a woman passed out inside the burning home. Neighbor David Carrero said they found the woman inside a garage.

“I was kind of surprised and bewildered, because it’s a very nice family, quite couple, you know, so it was kind of shocked,” Carrero said.

Carrero said his wife thought she smelled smoke Friday morning and when the couple returned home after work, found a crime scene at the home across the street. Carrero said the victim owns the home where the fire took place.

“He’s a working man, she also works, and they’re very quiet people and very pleasant. No squabbles whatsoever. I was very surprised at the whole thing,” Carrero said.

Family members gathered near the burned home, but didn’t want to speak on camera. Family members did tell reporters that Miramar Police aren’t sharing any details about what could have happened at the home.

Carrero said he and other neighbors will remain on edge until, “I get an answer to what this is all about.”

If you have any information about the fire, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
