Woman Punched Boy, 7, in Face for Making Fun of Her: Broward Sheriff's Office

An Oakland Park woman is facing charges after she punched a 7-year-old boy in the face because she said he made fun of her, officials said.

Hang Thucduyen Tran, 23, was arrested on battery and resisting arrest without violence charges Monday, according to a Broward Sheriff's Office arrest report.

Tran was being held on $2,000 bond Tuesday, jail records showed. It was unknown if she's hired an attorney.

Deputies were called to the Sunshine Mobile Home Park just before 7 p.m. Monday, where they met with the boy's mother. She said she saw her son riding his bicycle when he was punched in the face by Tran, the report said.

"He looked at me and was making fun of me and I punched him," Tran told deputies.

Tran gave deputies two different names and dates of birth which were both false, the report said.

Deputies didn't notice any bruising on the boy's face but his mother said she would take him to the hospital.
