Woman Shot and Killed in Miramar Home: Police

Police investigating after woman found shot to death Saturday morning

Police are investigating after a woman was found shot to death inside a home in Miramar Saturday morning.

Officers responded to the home in the 3400 block of Southwest 130th Avenue around 10 a.m., Miramar Police spokeswoman Tania Rues said.

According to Rues, the woman's husband called 911 to say his wife had been injured, but at one point during the call, he said she had died.

"The husband advised that his wife was injured but he proceeded to provide additional detailed information and when our officers arrived at the scene they came upon an adult female who was deceased with an apparent gunshot wound," Rues said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Miramar Police were interviewing the husband early Saturday before he was taken to a nearby hospital.

"We do believe he was involved in what occurred but again we need to determine exactly what it was that occurred," Rues said.

Police said a boy, either age 11 or 12, was found unharmed inside the home. He's believed to be the couple's son.

Police haven't identified the woman or her husband. Neighbors said they were fairly new to the neighborhood.

"You never know what kind of people are moving in here, new people coming in and out so you never know," neighbor Ramon Rodriguez said.
