A woman has been arrested after she shot her niece during an argument in Liberty City, Miami Police said.
Tiffiny Monet Gainous, 35, was arrested on attempted murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges in the Tuesday night shooting that happened in the area of Northwest 12th Avenue and 64th Street, police said.
According to an arrest report, Gainous and her niece were involved in an argument with other family members when Gainous went to her car and grabbed a black and silver handgun.
Gainous fired one shot at her niece, hitting her in the shoulder, the report said. The niece was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in stable condition.
Family members identified the niece as 28-year-old Jammie Thomas, a mother of two. Thomas was undergoing surgery Wednesday, the family members said.
Gainous was taken into custody at the scene. She remained jailed on $15,000 bond Wednesday and attorney information wasn't available.
