Women Still Recovering After Shooting in Coconut Grove

Two women remained hospitalized Wednesday after they were injured in a drive-by shooting in Coconut Grove.

Family members said 63-year-old Cassandra Johnson, a military veteran also known as Miss Sissy, was shot six times inside a car Tuesday night in the 3500 block of Thomas Avenue near Grand Avenue.

The second victim, 27-year-old Raisha Watson, is also a mother.

Both victims were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital where they were listed in serious but stable condition, according to Miami Fire Rescue.

Miami Police haven't yet said who was the target of the drive-by shooting but Johnson's daughter, who spoke with NBC 6 outside Jackson Memorial, said her mom is an innocent victim.

Johnson's daughter also said her mom's car has been sprayed with bullets before.

No arrests have been made, but witnesses said someone may have information.

"They have this thing about being snitches and all that, but some stuff, it needs to be told," witness Nakia Gross said.

Family members and frustrated neighbors are asking anyone with information to speak up. Anyone with info is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
