Would-Be Robbery Victim Returns Fire, Kills Suspect: Miami Gardens Police

The suspect shot the victim at least once, police said

A male suspect was shot and killed by the person he was trying to rob, Miami Gardens Police said.

The suspect was attempting to rob the victim and shot him at least one time, Miami Gardens Police Capt. Ralph Suarez said.

β€œThe victim went to the ground but was able to retrieve his own weapon and shot the offender several times,” Suarez said. β€œThe offender died at the scene,” outside the Rainbow shop at NW 19925 NW 2nd Ave., he said.

Police responded after getting a call of shots fired at about 3 p.m., he said.

The victim, who was shot in the legs, was airlifted to Ryder Trauma Center, where he is in stable condition and should be able to recover, Suarez said.

The suspect was trying to take a gold chain from the victim, he said.
