Wynwood has evolved through the years to become a vibrant arts district with funky, graffiti-themed murals, art galleries, trendy coffee shops and craft breweries that bedeck many of the area’s shops and warehouses.
Miamians have known Wynwood to be the city’s hipster hub for years but TripAdvisor just included Wynwood in its list of the “14 Coolest Hipster Neighborhoods in the U.S.A.”
TripAdvisor considered a variety of factors when rounding up some of the hottest hipster neighborhoods, including: the number of microbreweries, independent coffee shops, upscale farmers markets and how Instagram-worthy the location is.
Wynwood made the list because the once industrial district has transformed and now has colorful murals, some of the best breweries, art and fashion pop-up shops and dance venues, according to the report. TripAdvisor encouraged tourists to try shrimp tacos at Coyo Taco and taste the craft ale at Wynwood Brewing Company.
It’s the only Florida neighborhood to rank on the list. It is also just one of a handful of areas in the Southern U.S. to be on the list. Other “hip” neighborhoods include The Pearl District in Portland, Oregon, and Denver’s River North Art District, also known as RiNo.
