Yacht Goes Up in Flames in Coconut Grove

A yacht went up in flames in Coconut Grove Monday evening.

Miami Fire Rescue responded to 1600 South Bayshore Drive just after 8 p.m. to reports of a yacht on fire in the marina.

When firefighters arrived they found an 82-foot yacht called the "Anditi" with heavy smoke and flames showing from the rear.

Firefighters along with Miami Fireboat Central battled the blaze and were able to protect nearby boats from any flying embers.

Fire crews were quickly able to knock down the flames. No one was on board at the time of the fire.

The damage was confined to the rear of the vessel but thick smoke also filled the cabin.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The owner told investigators the boat was used on Sunday and appeared to be working fine.
