Family members are speaking out as police continue their search for a hit-and-run driver who killed a man in southwest Miami-Dade earlier this month.
Alberto Cabrera, 65 was in the area of Southwest 216th Street and Southwest 110th Avenue when he was struck by a car just after 6:45 p.m. on Dec. 15.
The driver fled the scene. Daughter Odalys Cabrera said her father was on the way to her house for dinner.
"You left for a reason and we wanna know why," she said Wednesday. "Please come forward. You're with your loved ones and we're missing, my kids come home every day asking for their grandfather. 'Where's grandfather? Where he's at?'"
Police on Wednesday handed out flyers in the neighborhood where the incident happened. Detectives are looking for a 1994-1997 Chevrolet Blazer, silver or gray, with front end damage and missing half of the emblem on the front.
"This is someone's life, this person lost their life because someone did not stop. You don't know if stopping and rendering aid could've saved this person's life," Miami-Dade Police spokesperson Robin Pinkard said.
Odalys Cabrera hopes someone will do the right thing.

"I mean, what if that was your father, your grandfather, your uncle, your brother? You would want answers as well," she said. "I know you might be scared and maybe it was an accident, just come forward, we want to know your side of the story as well."
