Young Man Shot While Riding Bike in Liberty City

Police in Liberty City are investigating a shooting that sent a 15-year-old to the hospital after being shot multiple times.

City of Miami police said the young male victim was riding a bike just before 6 p.m. Sunday when a car drove by Northwest 10th Avenue and 47th Terrace and shot him.

“We’ve heard several descriptions go out but right now, we do not have an exact description on the vehicle itself,” said Officer Michael Vega of Miami Police.

One witness said he rushed home to get towels and water to help the victim who was on the ground bleeding.

“I heard like 7,6 shots, then when I went outside, I didn’t see a car or anything. And then I saw him running and then he collapsed by the little Jeep,” said Trovaris Paris, a witness.

Miami Fire Rescue responded and took him to Ryder Trauma Center.

“I was shocked. I was panicking. I was trying to speak to him. It was like he was out of it,” said Paris.

While crime scene investigators work to gather evidence to help solve the crime, area residents fear for their safety.

“We worry about that too because we have kids,” said Lino Bayas, a nearby resident.

“Sometimes you can be at the wrong place at the wrong time and things just happen unexpectedly,” said JT Jenkins, another area resident.

Police have not yet identified the victim or released any details about him, including his age.

Anyone with information on this crime is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
