Anti-Black Lives Matter Protesters Taken Off Oklahoma University Campus

OU President David Boren joined a crowd of students and used a megaphone to order the men off campus

Two anti-Black Lives Matter protesters were escorted off the University of Oklahoma campus, already linked to a racist incident at a Pennsylvania school, on Wednesday.

The Oklahoma Daily reports one man called students racist while a second carried a sign that read "BLM Rent A Riot" on one side and "BLM Are Racist Thugs" on the other. OU President David Boren joined a crowd of students and used a megaphone to order the men off campus.

Boren told the men to get on a sidewalk and stay off the campus. He condemned what the man was saying, drawing cheers and applause from about 100 students who had gathered.

The two men were eventually escorted off campus by OU police. A police spokesman declined comment.

The quickly quashed protest comes on the heels of another racially charged incident, when a former University of Oklahoma student was one of three people who allegedly allegedly sent threatening texts to black first years at the University of Pennsylvania last week.

On November 15, Boren addressed that incident and others on the University of Oklahoma campus in a message to the student body, according to the Daily.

"Recently, we have been confronted with a series of events which once again challenge the strength of our community," Boren wrote. "A faculty member and his family have been the victim of racial taunts. Anonymous hate flyers have been posted on the campus. A hate message directed at minority students at another university appears to have originated in our state. Now is the time for all of us to speak out with a clear voice in condemnation of those kinds of events."

Boren added, "It is extremely important that we let all of the members of our university community, especially those who find themselves marginalized, know that we love them, care about them, and embrace them as members of the OU family."
