Concerts, Games, Events Canceled Due to Blizzard

A potentially historic storm is bearing down on the East Coast, threatening to dump up to 30 inches of snow on the D.C. area, so it's safe to say that your weekend plans in the region will likely be disrupted.

Here's the latest on event cancellations in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and New York City as of early Friday afternoon.

New York:

Movie Theaters: The AMC in Times Square is officially closed, and other AMC locations will be closing, too. 

Broadway Shows: All Broadway matinee and evening performances on Saturday will be cancelled.

Central Park Winter Jam: The Saturday event was canceled and will not be rescheduled. 

Bruce Springsteen at Madison Square Garden: The Sunday night Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band show was postponed, with no make-up date immediately announced. 

Flyers vs. Islanders at Barclays Center: The game on Saturday was postponed. A makeup date will be announced as soon as it can be confirmed. 

NYRR Fred Lebow Manhattan Half Marathon: The event, which was scheduled for Sunday, was canceled. 

Philadelphia:

Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers at Wells Fargo Center: Saturday's game will be made up on Sunday at 7 p.m. ET.

Villanova v. Providence at the Wells Fargo Center: The game was moved from Saturday to Sunday at 1 p.m. 

La Salle v. St. Joe's at Tom Gola Arena: Saturday's game was postponed until Sunday at 5 p.m. Fans with tickets who are unable to attend can exchange them for a La Salle game at Gola Arena later this season.

Temple v Southern Methodist University at the Liacouras Center: The game was moved from Saturday to Sunday at 12:30 pm. 

Temple's women's game against Houston: The game was scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday but has been postponed to a later date.

D.C.:

Washington Wizards vs. Utah Jazz at the Verizon Center: The game on Saturday was postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date.

Anaheim Ducks vs. Washington Capitals: Friday's game at the Verizon Center was postponed. A makeup date will be announced as soon as it can be confirmed.

Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Washington Capitals at Verizon Center: Sunday's game has been postponed, the National Hockey League announced Saturday. A make-up date will be announced as soon as possible. 

University of Maryland Athletics: All Maryland athletic events and competitions scheduled for this weekend have been postponed. The women's basketball, wrestling and gymnastic events will be rescheduled at later dates. Go here for more.

George Washington University vs. Rhode Island: George Washington's men's basketball team will tip off with Rhode Island at 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 22 instead of 7 p.m.

George Mason University vs. GW: George Mason's women's basketball game against George Washington University will be played at 12 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 22.

Howard University vs. Florida A&M: Howard University's men's and women's doubleheader against Florida A&M University has been moved to Wednesday, Jan. 27 at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

American University vs. Holy Cross: American University's men's basketball game against Holy Cross University on Sunday, Jan. 24 has been postponed to Monday, Jan. 25 at 2 p.m.

University of Virginia v. Syracuse: The game will be postponed from Saturday, Jan. 23 at noon to Sunday, Jan. 24 at 7 p.m. It will be televised on ESPN2.

University of Virginia v. Wake Forest Game at Wake Forest University: The game will be moved from Monday, Jan. 25 at 9 p.m. to Tuesday, Jan 26 at 7 p.m. It will broadcast on ESPN3.

Washington Auto Show at the D.C. Convention Center: The Washington Auto Show will not open until Monday. Go to their website for more information.

Smithsonian museums and National Zoo: All Smithsonian museums in the D.C. region and the National Zoo are closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Smithsonian events are also canceled or postponed.

Home + Remodeling Show at the Dulles Expo Center: The show was canceled because of "potentially life-threatening weather conditions," according to its website. Marketplace Events will give refunds and provide information soon to ticket holders.

Wolf Trap: Performances by Robyn Hitchcock, Marcia Ball, and Members of the Philadelphia Orchestra at Wolf Trap are being rescheduled. Check with Wolf Trap's website for more.

Ice Yards in Washington, D.C.: Planners say the event will occur “snow or shine.” With heated tents, drink specials, fire pits, snowball fights and more, the adults-only winter wonderland will party on in Navy Yard. See Go to their Eventbrite page for more information..

Garth Brooks at the Royal Farms Arena: Country singer Garth Brooks is postponing two concerts in Baltimore. Concert organizers announced Thursday that the shows scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Royal Farms Arena have been postponed to Jan. 31.

Hill Center at the Old Naval Hospital: The Hill Center will be closed on Friday, Jan. 22 and Saturday, Jan. 23.  

Pixar in Concert in Baltimore: The start time of Friday's show has been changed from 8 p.m. to 6 p.m. The performance will also be without intermission, allowing the audience and performers to leave by 7:30 p.m. The Saturday and Sunday performances are currently continuing as scheduled. Any cancellations or updated information will be posted on their website.

FRESHFARM markets: For the first time in its history, the FRESHFARM markets in downtown Silver Spring and Dupont Circle will be canceled this Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

Sweat at Mead Center for American Theatre: The Friday, Saturday and Sunday performances have been canceled. Two new dates have been added and ticket holders can contact the Arena Stage Sales Office at 202-488-3300 to reschedule.
